| DESCRIPTION of Afghan Hound |
| HEAD: |
| Long but not too narrow, long snout, light stop. |
| SKULL: |
| Well proportioned, crowned with an abundant toupee of long hair. The truffle is perfectly black; however, in the animals with a light coat, a liver truffle is allowed. |
| EYES: |
| Perfectly dark, but the golden color is not penalized, with an almost triangular shape, slightly oblique going from the exterior to the interior angle. |
| EARS: |
| Placed low, very close to the head, covered with long and silky hair. |
| NECK: |
| Long, strong. It gives the head haughtiness. |
| FRONT EXTREMITIES: |
| Long, oblique shoulders, placed back, with very powerful muscles. |
| FRONT PAWS: |
| Straight with the shoulder, the elbows very close to the body. |
| BACK EXTREMITIES: |
| Great length between the heap and the hock, short distance from the hock to the foot. The buttress can be cut or not, depending on the breeder. |
| BODY: |
| Flat back with a medium length, very muscular, slightly leaned to the heap. The heap bones are prominent and well separated. The ribs are shown, with deep chest, strong, straight back that is mainly short. |
| FEET: |
| The front ones are strong and wide; the rear ones are a little less wide, covered with long and thick hair. The fingers are arched long and elastic quarters and pads well placed on the floor. |
| TAIL: |
| Not very long, ended in the shape of a ring with only little hair, placed high. |
| HAIR: |
| One of its main characteristics of this dog is its long, silky hair, with a fine texture that covers the ribs. The front quarters, the rear quarter and all of the body, except for the back from the shoulder to the birth of the tail where the hair is short and very thick. |
| On the head, from the forehead and back, the hair is long and silky; on the face, the hair is short and thick. The ears and the legs are covered with long and abundant hair. The quarters can be bald. |
| HEIGHT: |
| In males from 69 to 74 cm and females from 65 to 70 cm. There usual weight is around 25 and 35 kg. |
