HEIGHT: 60 cm
WEIGHT: 45 kg
LIFE EXPECTANCY: 13 -15 years
CHARACTERISTICS of the Briard Dog
Hardy dog, supple, muscular and well proportioned, of vigorous movement, balanced temperament, neither aggressive nor timid. Also having beard and mustache and its dark eyes covered by plentiful eyebrows. The ears fall by nature, but are often cut, where they look short and lifted. Straight back, broad chest and muscular extremities. Very hairy tail, must be carried low. Coat: long, rough and waterproof. Color: all uniform colors are allowed, except white and dark brown.
The Briard sheepdog must be treated with affection, emphasizing rewards more than punishments and valuing its (not few) good qualities.
ADVICE 812
Needs a lot of exercise and enjoys any physical activity.
ADVICE 813
The effortless in its hygiene care contrasts in the complicated combination of sensitive and strict training that it needs.
ADVICE 814
This is a very energetic dog, obstinate and intelligent. A family link enforces its protective instinct especially with children.
ADVICE 815
A bit rustic, but happy & sociable. Has a better response to prizes than to punishment, since it's a hypersensitive dog.
Its diverse functions and skills which it adapts, makes clear its physical and mental capacity and strength.
ADVICE 816
The Briad sheepdog demands a great dose of patience from its master, since it's a dog that evolves slowly and is hypersensitive with its master, which it adores.
ADVICE 817
In its training harsh or rude methods shouldn't be employed.
ADVICE 818
Any punishment will make the dog lazy and unreceptive, building a barrier between the dog and its master, creating even more a lack of understanding.
ADVICE 819
Since it is very young it is predisposed to be protective with its territory and everything in it, be it a sheep, child or purse.
ADVICE 820
Its notable protecting instinct with children and easy natured, make it ideal for protecting schools and kindergartens.
ADVICE 821
Was used to pull milk carts and sleds.
ADVICE 822
In humanitarian tasks it is important to point out its sense of smell memory and their tenacity.
