Dog Education Process. Dog Obedience Training. |
| o Keep the education sessions short and frequent (10 to 20 minutes), and proceed gradually. o Avoid prolonging the sessions, in order to maintain the dog's attention. o End the sessions on a positive note (playing, walking with the dog). o Begin always a new exercise in an area free of distractions. o A reward must be given at the precise moment that the dog delivers the correct response. o When the dog behaves well, at the beginning reward him every time. o For the dog's best responses, allow for special treats. o If the dog regresses, stop the education process and start over the next day. Never punish him. o Once you have obtained the desired response, rewards are randomized (positive sound Spray Commander, verbal congratulations, treats, strokes). o Now practice the exercises in many different places where there are plenty of distractions. Keep always the contact with your dog : talking him or with your eyes looking at him. o Wait for the dog to show you acceptable behavior repeatedly before rewarding him. |
