DESCRIPTION of Shar-Pei or Sharpei
Strong and compact. The skin has to be strong and rough, with very short and spiky hair. Large wrinkles on the whole body on puppies. On adults the wrinkles are centered on their chest and forehead. Active and agile. Serene and independent, loyal and affectionate with people.
HEAD:
Round skull; large at the base, but flat and wide at the forehead. Moderate stop.
TRUFFLE:
Large and wide. Preferably black, although light colors are allowed on lighter shaded dogs.
SNOUT:
Of moderate length, wide at the base, and thinning out slightly at the nose.
MOUTH:
It is preferable for the tongue and gums to be bluish-black, the pink or purple tongue is only allowed on light dogs, for example cream color or beige.
JAW:
Strong. The mouth seen from the front or the top looks like a roof-tile which is called "tiled mouth" or it has a wide jaw that looks like a frog which is called "frog mouth". Both types of mouth have a strong bite.
TEETH:
Perfect, with a precise scissor like bite. Meaning the upper part closes directly with the lower one.
EYES:
Medium sized and almond shaped. The darkest possible. Light eyes aren't desired. The eyes or eyelashes shouldn't be bothered by the skin, folds or hair. Any evidence of eye irritation is undesired.
EARS:
Small thick, with the shape of an equilateral triangle, slight round at the tip. The tip of the ears are pointed towards the eyes and folded inward towards the skull. Very separate behind the head. Upright ears are permitted but aren't desired.
NECK:
Strong, muscular, with loose skin. The loose skin mustn't be excessive.
BODY:
Excessive loose skin around the body on adults is undesirable.
CROSS:
Slight folds of the skin on the cross.
BACK:
Very strong and straight, with a very robust backbone.
CHEST:
Wide and deep.
TAIL:
There are various types of tails. The most common is the curved or double curled. This curled can be large or small. The tail must be firm and curl over the haunch.
FRONT EXTREMITIES:
Muscular and well shaped shoulders. The front legs must be of moderate length, slightly longer than the body's width. Good bones. Slight curb on the articulation. Strong & flexible.
BACK EXTREMITIES:
Strong and muscular. Moderately angles. Straight and parallel metatarsus (hocks), perpendicular to the floor when seen from behind.
FEET:
Of moderate size, compact, filled in and with marked knuckles.
MOVEMENT:
Free, vigorous and well balanced.
FOLDS:
The folds on the forehead must be even evident, without obstructing the yes. The head is pumpkin shaped. The wrinkles on the forehead form lines that in Chinese writing is the symbol of longevity. This mark is essential in this breed, since these longevity marks are only found in the great felines, like lions and tigers. On dogs, only the mastiffs have them.
HAIR;
Short, hard, pointy. Without an undercoat. No longer than 2.5 cm. It should never be cut.

Black:
Uniformed black, except the flanks which can be faded into a gray or brown shade (generally due to the sun).
Brown:
Fairly dark.
Red:
Uniformed red (like the Irish setter). Tawny or fawn. Fairly dark. The flanks are often lighter.
Cream:
Lighter but never white. The ears and back line can be a little darker (towards a tawny hue).
Sandy:
A mix of tawny and brown hair.
BLENDED COLORS:
Without black shaded; the skin and face mask are the color as the coat.
Blue:
Uniform grayish-bluish shades. Extremely difficult and rare color to find.

It's a lighter smoother color than the five red spots.
Isabela:
Colored based on the blue hue, with a bluish face mask and the back line with blue shades, the rest of the body is splotches with a pinkish tone, the description it has is that it's a pinkish-blue breed, looking of a tawny shade with a blue face mask.
Lilac:
If the blue color is considered rare, this one is even more, few samples are seen, like the name implies it's a bluish-lilac.
SIZE:
The cross height is of 48 to 58 cm and weighs around 18 to 29 kg.
